Creamy Feta Dressing

by lydia on August 17, 2010

Now I bring to you a fabulous dressing that goes great with a grilled veggie salad! A creamy feta dressing…….who doesn’t love feta! Making your own dressing at home is imperative if you want to eat healthy and avoid all those trans-fats and added nasties in just about every single store bought salad dressing out there. Plus, it is a pleasure to whip up your own hand crafted dressings to accompany your meals. I promise you -it is EASY! That said, this feta dressing really is a favorite of mine.

Feta is a brined cheese traditionally made in Greece. Traditionally, feta has been made by peasants in the lower Balkan peninsula, from sheep’s milk, although goat’s milk has been used in more recent times. Just a 3.5 oz serving of feta contains 21 grams of fat, (remember we like this kind of fat!),  14 grams of protein, 422 IU of vitamin A and 493 mg. of calcium. It also contains a fair amount of vitamins B2, B5, B6 and B12, as well as zinc. It is reasonably priced and easy to come by also!

Adding this gem of a cheese to your dressing will only enhance the nutritional value, not to mention the taste is to die for!

Creamy Feta Dressing

  • 1 cup crumbled feta
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 3-4 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil (optional)
  • 1 tsp. dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Whisk together the last 7 ingredients in a small bowl. Stir in the feta. I paired this dressing up with an amazing grilled veggie salad. It was divine~!
