The Kettlebell Challenge

It’s a new month, therefore it’s time for a new challenge here at Divine Health. This month’s challenge will be a Kettlebell Challenge. We are gonna swing some bells y’all!

If you’ve followed Divine Health for any length of time, you will know about kettlebells and why I love them so much! Kettlebells afford you an amazing work out with little time investment and great benefits. I love how they condition both cardiovascularly and work to tone/strengthen the whole body. Kettlebell moves are meant to incorporate whole body movement rather than isolating individual muscles. There are not many movements we do in life that isolate muscles one at a time. Our body works as a whole, therefore we need to work it out as such. I’ll be honest, when I work out regularly with kettlebells, my whole body feels really strong! I can’t recommend their use enough!

To purchase a kettlebell, I’d recommend starting out with a 20 lb kettlebell or an 8 kg. bell. You will quickly outgrow anything less than that. This one piece of equipment will afford you numerous workouts. Guys will want to start with more – 30-35 lbs or 12-16 kg.

The goal will be to use your kettlebell as your lifting type of workout for the whole month of September. Shoot for 2-3 workouts per week using kettlebells. Why do this? I believe you will thank me at the end of the month – you’ll be stronger, more toned, have more energy, confidence and you may even shed some pounds! I so want kettlebells! When I get some extra dough, I’m going to invest. The old gym that I used to go to had them, but my new gym doesn’t. I know you can use free weights in place of them, but it’s just not the same! Fun!!

I’d love to give this a try! The only thing I’m afraid of is the roof in my basement (where all my workouts happen) is very low. I think I can fix that by doing kettlebell routines upstairs. Now to find one!!!
