Essential Oils truly help to balance the body to heal instead of just placate symptoms. I find them to be a very key element in my families holistic ‘medicine cabinet’. They provide countless benefits as an overall health support.

If I had to pick, I’d say that lavender is the mother of all essential oils – and here is why….
Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil

- promotes restful sleep

- helps improve focus and mental acuity
..not to mention, it smells amazing and combats odors well.
Lavender is a scent that most everyone loves – even diffusing it for aromatherapy goes a long way! It is calming, relaxing and balancing – both physically and emotionally!
My family uses it on a weekly basis in my home (in some form or fashion) and we love the benefits immensely!
One of my favorite uses for it is to put a couple drops on the nape of my neck or in a carrier oil and rub on my feet before bed to help promote restful sleep. Additionally, you could diffuse it on a timer overnight for anyone who may have trouble sleeping! I use the diffuser from the my Young Living Essential Oils Premium Starter kit -it has a timer feature that allows it to diffuse 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off for 3o minutes. That is a safer option for kids as well when diffusing oils.
If you don’t have a diffuser yet – you can make a simple ‘pillow mist’ by adding witch hazel and water (50/50) in a spray bottle with as many drops of lavender oil as you like -start with 7-10 drops if it’s a small bottle. Spray on everyone’s pillows before bed for peaceful sleep!
Safe For Kids
Lavender oil is safe for use with children ages 2 and up – it’s always best to dilute it first a few drops in a carrier oil. For infants, 2 months and older you can use 1 drop of lavender essential oil in 4 teaspoons of carrier oil – massage on the bottoms of baby’s feet before bedtime.
To support the immune system and lungs, use lavender oil diluted and rubbed on the chest or bottoms of feet.
Also, if diffusing for young kids keep in mind children actually breathe more air per pound of body weight than adults do. So it’s important to take necessary precautions when diffusing or misting in the presence of children.
