Let’s face it…..we’re all toxic to varying degrees. Say it with me….. ‘ I have toxicity in my body’
While, you may be working on helping your body to heal in numerous ways…..sometimes a little more support for detoxification is needed. However, too much detoxification, too fast can throw many folks into feeling pretty horrible. This is a conundrum for sure.
So how do we get toxins out safely without making ourselves feel like crap in the process?
One option that is a much gentler approach and safe for most people (not suitable for pregnant women), is through the use of a castor oil pack.
Castor Oil Packs
Castor oil is effective in helping remove cellular waste products. When Castor oil is absorbed through the skin, it helps it increases the lymphocyte count of the blood, and improves the lymph flow throughout the body (can even reduce swollen lymph nodes), as well as helps with general overall improvement in organ function and a lessening of fatigue and depression.
It’s a simple process, one you can do in the evening time to help relax – you can meditate, read or even watch a movie or knit while doing a castor oil pack. The items you need to get started are also quite inexpensive. This is great option for those not ready to take on coffee enemas – and truth-be-told not everyone’s body is up to a coffee enema just yet.
It’s a GREAT option for those of you who have a history of constipation and are still struggling a bit on that front.
I tend to use a castor oil pack when I feel my liver and bowels are sludgy or I have not exercised enough. This often happens when life gets too busy OR when I don’t eat optimally. You may get better results if used consistently for awhile, but you certainly can help yourself out even if you can only manage them on occasion. I keep my supplies handy in a small basket on one of my nightstands for convenience and pull it out whenever I feel I need it, I especially love doing the packs in the winter time -it’s a nice way to keep warm.
You just need castor oil (BUY IT HERE) and flannel (BUY IT HERE). I also use a rice pack to place over the pack instead of a heating pad. I heat it up a bit hotter than I normally would and reheat halfway through.

While it may seem like there are endless things to consider when it comes to your health, keep in mind, we are all dealing with toxins in our environment we simply cannot avoid. It’s just an unfortunate aspect of the world we live in. The good news is, there are so many amazing ways to support the body and gently detoxify it.
Just recently a client of mine wrote in to share how much castor oil packs were helping her. Here is what she shared with me through several emails:
I had replacement tendon surgery on my thumb 4 years ago. I can use it very well but it will ache sometimes for days. Last night I put a castor oil hot pack on it and the pain was gone in 12 minutes. It had been aching non-stop for 4 days. It is still good this morning.
I used it last night for tight calves and some knee pain and it worked. I walk about 2-3 hours a day and stretching wasn’t helping enough.
More about the castor oil packs. I put it on a sore shoulder last night and that is much better. It had been sore for months either from use or sleeping on it. My feet were really tight from walking so much. They feel about 1/2 better this morning. I put the hot pack on the floor and sat with my feet resting on it.
It’s amazing what you can get relief from when you help the body gently remove cellular waste.
